Periodontal (gum) disease impacts your general health, and studies worldwide are finding out how big that impact is! Most people don’t even know they have gum disease; it can be reversible in its early stages but the evidence of the relationship between oral bacteria and life-threatening diseases make it essential it is prevented or treated.

A lot of research is being done to investigate the cause and effect of gum disease on general health. Though some studies are inconclusive, others point to direct relationships between periodontal (gum) disease and life-threatening diseases, that could be affecting you! As health care providers, dental professionals must complete thorough health histories on their patients and identify risk factors that may affect their overall health.

Brushing after every meal, flossing your teeth daily and seeing your dental professional regularly! These instructions help you to sustain good oral health.
